We produced art works for an exhibition at the London 2012 Paralympics. Rachel Gadsden, the artist commissioned to produce an art project including children's work from four continents, chose our school to represent Africa.
She gave an intensive three day art course to the whole school, teaching us to see with artists' eyes, to express movement with bold brush strokes and to celebrate the paralympic movement in art.
Rachel says: “John Wycliffe Christian School was amazing ... It is the most extraordinary school I have ever had the pleasure to do an artistic project with. The students were engaging, dynamic and a pure joy to be creative with. Headmaster Mr Smith and his team have created a very special environment and witnessing the beautiful atmosphere in the school will remain with me forever.”
A few weeks later the kids were thrilled to see photographs of their artwork in the Argus newspaper.
