Missions is an important focus of school life. Every class has a “class missionary” whom they support and pray for. The children learn about the country where they serve and what life on the mission field is like. Missionaries are often invited as guest speakers at the weekly assemblies.
Teachers arrange service opportunities appropriate to the age of the children. Younger children engage in acts of service within the school. Older children are involved in outreach further afield, in old age homes and children’s homes. The annual missions week is a highlight of the year, involving the whole school in outreach and service. The grade 7 pupils run the school tuck shop and all profits are donated to Christian ministries.
Prayer is an important element of school life. Staff begin the day with devotions and praying with their colleagues in the staff room and then with the children in the classroom. There are weekly prayer meetings for moms, and a Saturday morning prayer meeting twice a term for parents and staff. During the annual prayer week, the whole school learns more about prayer and praying.
